Pablo was a tricoloured male guinea pig with a medium length coat born in 2012 who was neutered late (July 2018) after his brother died. He had come to live in one of our new sheds with our maleless group of lady pigs and had free run of the shed with them once we were satisfied that he was firing blanks, but at first he was in a cage next to them. We would not recommend neutering a guinea pig of this age and we had concerns about his ability to recover fully from the operation but luckily he enjoyed his retirement so much that he forgot to feel old. He was in remarkably good condition for his age. He certainly was determined to make the most of his second chance and did so for a happy two years even outliving our younger male, Alejandro.
